We are a couple of nuts from the Czech Republic with the passion for making guitars from a reclaimed wood with a story. Over the years our portfolio has grown to ten of our own models. We also make custom guitars, basses, cigar box guitars, mini basses and electric ukuleles.

Red Bird Instruments was founded by Jan, making guitars since 2007. Jan’s first passion were cigarbox guitars and soon he started making guitars and basses too. He is a full-time luthier since 2016. In 2020 Lucie joined Red Bird, first as a designer, then as a luthier. Nowadays we make around 50 guitars a year.

Everything is handmade

At Red Bird we believe in honest work, so we don’t use any CNC. We love wood and its structure – we believe that every piece deserves care and attention. Like all good things, wood also needs its time, so we only do everything by our hands. We love customizations and beautiful tiny details. Even if we make two identical guitars, they are never exactly the same.

Old is gold!

We are fans of upcycling, so we prefer to use old wood to make our guitars – old roof beams from buildings, old furniture, old floors, etc. The old wood is perfectly dry and resonates beautifully. We only have a few pieces of each wood, so each instrument is truly an original with a story. As small details on our instruments we like to use old things.

In 2022, our long-time dream came true and we started making our own Red Bird pickups. About production of pickups takes care our good friend Veronika, very skilled and precise lady.

Our longtime friend and big supporter of Red Bird. He worked with us as a constructor, inventor and designer on some of our models. Amazing guy!

Jakub

It's been two years since we started working together with our wonderful friend, great musician and artist Jakub König. Jakub's paintings are a great inspiration to us and we love every one of his guitars!
